FibroScan in Santiago de los Caballeros
FibroScan is a non-invasive test that measures liver stiffness and fat in a few minutes, with no needles and no incisions. Dr. Rebeca De León performs it at her practice in HOMS Health Wellness Center, office 409, in Santiago de los Caballeros, and reads it together with your medical history.

What does FibroScan measure?
It uses gentle vibrations to estimate two liver values: stiffness, which points to the degree of fibrosis (scarring), and attenuation, which points to the amount of fat. Both results help decide whether more tests or treatment are needed.
Who is it useful for?
At the doctor's discretion, it is used in people with suspected fatty liver, raised liver enzymes, chronic hepatitis, diabetes or obesity, or in those who already have a liver condition and need follow-up. The doctor decides in consultation whether to do it.
What is the test like?
You lie down and there are no needles and no incisions. A probe rests on the skin over the right ribs and several measurements are taken. It lasts a few minutes and needs no anaesthesia or hospital stay. Depending on the case, a short fast beforehand may be requested; when you book we confirm the preparation that applies to you.
What happens afterwards?
The doctor explains the result together with your medical history and lab work. FibroScan is a supporting test: it does not replace the consultation or diagnose on its own.
